Documents required to apply for Italian citizenship through the courts are:
-
All certificates of your relatives in the line of descent back to the Italian ancestor (birth, marriage and death – if applicable), including your certificates;
-
Birth or baptismal certificate of your Italian ancestor (Estratto dell'Atto di Nascita or Certificato di Battesimo, only one of the two and both obtained directly at the place of birth in Italy);
-
Certificate of Non-Existence of a Naturalization Record (No Record Letter): Issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), this document proves the Italian ancestor never became a U.S. citizen before the birth of their child. If the ancestor did naturalize, a certified copy of the naturalization certificate and related documents must be submitted.
-
Application for Attribution of Italian Nationality (completed and signed);
-
Power of attorney for your lawyer; Protocol of the citizenship application at the Consulate.
